Exchange Online Starts Blocking and Reporting Email from Legacy Exchange Servers

Microsoft has introduced outdated and outdated Exchange Online environment Exchange is taking an important step regarding emails coming from these servers. In an announcement made on March 23, it was stated that a Transport control system will be activated to control emails coming from these servers.

This system consists of three stages: first reporting, then limiting the email flow, and finally blocking emails from these servers. The first stage covers Exchange 2007. This is because Exchange 2007 is the oldest version that can be moved to Exchange Online in a hybrid structure.

If today Microsoft It was announced that the relevant process had started and the new road map was announced;

In the shared roadmap, it is seen that the Reporting process for Exchange Server has been completed and the blocking status has been reached. In November, the blocking process for Exchange Server 2010 will begin.

With this system, customers using old or un-updated servers will be provided with a new email flow report that will provide information about the status of these servers. This report will inform administrators about whether to update or upgrade these servers.

Microsoft is adopting a Zero Trust security model for its cloud services. This model requires proving that connected devices and servers are trustworthy and manageable. Unmaintained servers pose a constant security risk. Therefore, emails sent from these servers cannot be trusted. These servers pose a serious risk of security breaches, malware, hacking, and other attacks.

As part of this, a transport-based auditing system will be enabled in Exchange Online. The system is designed to notify an administrator of outdated or outdated Exchange servers in their local environment that need to be fixed. If a server is not fixed, email flow from that server will first be limited and eventually blocked entirely.

For many years, Exchange Server administrators have used Exchange Server Health Check. This tool can detect common configuration and performance issues and determine which servers are outdated or out of date.

Microsoft aims to increase the security of its cloud service by encouraging its customers to update or upgrade these servers, a step that could benefit both Microsoft and its customers.
